Current Status: East Hundred - Plus Minus

Yeah, it’s a little Cassette Kids in the chorus and Sunderland is absolutely chewing his way from the top to the bottom of the bassline, but there’s an innocence and awkwardness in Beril Guceri’s vocal track that betrays the brick wall she and guitarist Brooke Blair were hitting as this freshman effort came together.  Guceri’s glassy end of the track is one-fifth Siouxsie, one-fifth McVie and three-fifths Katrina Noorbergen but it elevates the standard picking-up-the-pieces Grrrl Rock formula by injecting a little twee irony. 

Rumors it’s not, but for a Philly effort produced in jeopardy, it ain’t bad.
